CONGRATULATIONS - STEPHEN & ALEKSANDRA FERRARO
On Saturday, July 17th, our own Sensei Steve Ferraro married Aleksandra (Ola) Gidzinski in a beautiful ceremony in Guelph. The new married couple had a fantastic wedding surrounded by family and friends. Ola joined our dojo a little over a year ago and has joined Sensei Steve in his martial arts passion. A couple of long time fellow students and their wives attended the festivities, as did a very proud Sensei Rick and Greta Roberts.

CONGRATULATIONS - ALEX MACKEIGAN: SHODAN
On May 29th, 2010, Alex MacKeigan completed an arduous physical Black Belt pre-test to demonstrate his physical fitness, technical skills and spirit. He was promoted later that day by performing all of the Shorinkan Kata curriculum before a Grading Board of Instructors. He demonstrated that he was well skilled and met the high standards expected of a Shodan. He was joined in the grading by Tim Koch of Sanshin Martial Arts who was also promoted to Shodan.

Alex MacKeigan Promoted to Shodan (1st degree Black Belt) on May 29th, 2010
NEWSLETTER - June 2010
We are coming to the end of another full season. It has been a great year and one of the most eventful for the dojo and our students.
Following Canada Day (July 1st), the dojo will start Summer Hours:
I am pleased to announce that Alex MacKeigan was promoted to Shodan. He underwent a strenuous and detailed inspection of his skills and knowledge. Alex did an excellent job and I am proud to have him among our Black Belts. Although Alex is not yet a full karate teacher, he should be addressed as Sensei.
Tim Koch from Sanshin Martial Arts in Guelph joined Alex in the grading. I want to thank the students who came out to support Alex during the run and kata portion of the grading. Your presence helped Alex get through the difficult and tiring portions of the testing.
Another Black Belt promotional grading will be held in early November. At this time we have 2 candidates for November.
I had hoped that we could extend early membership renewals to our students and avoid the 8% tax increase. Unfortunately, the provincial government ruled in very late April that membership renewals for sports clubs, e.g. Golf, gyms, etc, had to be made by April 30th to avoid the tax. Please refer any comments and frustrations to Dalton McGinty`s office and your local MPP.
New MembersWe all benefit from new students, in terms of fresh ideas, teaching opportunities and keeping costs down. Please `sing the praises` of the dojo to your friends and family.
SummerPlease have a fun and enjoyable summer, be safe and I hope to see you in class.
